Internship Programs
Our Programs
-
The Master of Social Work/Bachelor of Social Work Internship program is an opportunity for those students interested in Social Work to gain insight into the Social Work profession. Students will work with clients and the community in the different levels of micro, macro and mezzo social work.
Students will provide intervention with clients through individual and group sessions, facilitate and coordinate workshops and presentations of Pyscho-Educational topics, get involved in work with clients in schools, in the LA County Teen Court and also provide interaction with other professions such as attorneys, education administrators, judges and others. We consider the interns as a major member of the PESA Team as they gain a full vision of what the Social Work profession is all about.
-
Law students from Loyola Law School can facilitate PESA programming for their required pro-bono hours. This includes leading school presentations, creating curriculum, working directly with youth, and more.
-
This intensive five-week internship program is aimed to assist and uplift youth using the following themes:
Mindful Mondays - focus on emotional awareness
Transitional Tuesdays - focus on personal improvement
World of Work Wednesdays - focus on financial literacy
Thinking-Forward Thursdays - focus on professional development
For our Community Fridays - focus on community outreach
Through financial workshops, outreach tasks in their own communities, presentations on topics ranging from tolerance to conflict resolution, and programs with themes ranging from politics to forensic science, students interns exit this internship with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the next chapter of their lives.

The goal of the college internship program is to provide practical work experience, particularly in the legal field, and build upon in-demand transferable skills such as a strong work ethic and communication expertise that are of real value in the workplace. It is a 13-week intensive, hands-on program, which puts students deep into real-world experiences such as:
Crafting social history narratives of incarcerated individuals
Reviewing police reports and drafting case summaries for the LASC Teen Court Program
Creating an educational presentation on a current societal issue
Identifying a policy issue within a Southern California school district and offering possible solutions
Networking with PESA to establish post-internship work opportunities
